The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA) and Għaqda Bdiewa Attivi (GħBA) today announced that a collaboration agreement have been struck between the two organizations.

The MHRA’s objective to promote and safeguard the interests of the tourism sector tallies with the GħBA’s mission to find solutions for local farmers to penetrate the market more successfully, a statement said. Both organizations believe that the farmer is essential in the stewardship of the country’s open spaces and that the resulting landscape is a crucial touristic product that we cannot afford to lose or weaken.

The farmers’ pivotal role in tending the countryside needs to be sustained and strengthened. Furthermore, the products produced by these farmers are the ingredients that contribute to the Maltese identity which the tourists seek to explore when they visit our country. This culinary identity is an increasingly sought-after attribute of our country and the tourist industry would benefit significantly when such an identity is promoted to a greater extent.

The two organizations will start cooperating to support one another in working towards this mutual vision above. The current difficulties and obstacles will be identified, and potential solutions worked upon together. Both organizations are confident that new synergisms can be created through this collaboration to the benefit of all stakeholders involved in these two strategically crucial sectors for our country, the statement said.
