156 new Covid-19 cases found as two more patients die

156 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Monday, as two more patients died while positive for the virus.

During the last 24 hours, a 97-year-old woman passed away at Mater Dei while positive for the virus, and an 82-year-old man died at a private residence while also positive for the virus.

It means that the number of people who have died in Malta while positive for the virus is now up to 295.

184 people meanwhile have recovered from the virus, taking the number of active cases down to 2,340.

2,817 swab tests were carried out on Sunday, taking that total number of swab tests up to 656,803 so far.

51,641 doses of the vaccine meanwhile have been administered, with 16,265 people now having received both doses of the vaccine.

Malta has now had 19,945 cases of the virus. 17,310 of them have recovered, while 295 have died.
