Health Minister Chris Fearne has received his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Fearne tweeted that he had received the second does this morning at Mater Dei Hospital, and called on the public to “believe in science.”
He is the latest high profile figure to receive the second dose of the vaccine: Health chief Charmaine Gauci received her second dose two days ago, while the President George Vella has also been fully vaccinated.
Till yesterday, 53,647 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered, of which 17,102 are second doses.
Malta is currently two weeks ahead of schedule in the its vaccination programme as the vulnerable start receiving letters of appointment to get the jab.
The country currently has three vaccines available for use: the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the Moderna vaccine, and the AstraZeneca vaccine.
A fourth vaccine – the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine – is expected to be approved for use by European medical authorities in March.
