Man arrested in connection with 21 thefts; stolen items worth more than €70,000

A 49-year old man has been arrested in connection with 21 thefts from various construction sites and vacant residences. 

The man, who resides in Birżebbuġa, was arrested Sunday evening. The police surrounded his residence and arrested him on the spot. 

This arrest comes after an investigation between the Police of the major crimes squad and officials from the Sliema district, who found the person who was mostly likely to commit this theft.

The investigations have revealed that the theft of new appliances, tools, and other household items, dates back to November 2020. 

A search of his garage found most of the missing items worth more than €70,000. 

The man was arraigned on Tuesday by Magistrate Charmaine Galea LL.D, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody at the Kordin Correctional Facility. 

The prosecution was led by inspectors Savior Baldacchino, Jonathan Ransley and Colin Sheldon.
