55 immigrants were found in Birzebbuga early on Sunday morning after seemingly arriving from Libya onboard a dinghy, police said in a statement.
The police said that at around 5:30am on Sunday, they were informed that a group of immigrants was entering Malta near Wied il-Buni in Birzebbuga.
District police on site found 55 immigrants, all of whom were men.
Police said that it appeared that they arrived in Malta onboard a dinghy which seemed to have left from Libya and which was found nearby.
The immigrants were taken into custody by immigration police for more investigations.
