510 new cases of Covid-19 found, smashing daily record of cases

510 cases of Covid-19 were reported by authorities on Wednesday, smashing the country’s daily record of cases.

The numbers are a significant increase over the previous record – which was 362 cases found last week.

Two more people have also died while positive for the virus: a 64-year-old man and a 73-year-old man, who both passed away in the last 24 hours at Mater Dei Hospital.

361 people meanwhile have recovered, taking the number of active cases found up to 3,182.

105,416 doses of the vaccine have been administered so far, with 35,093 people having received both doses of the vaccine.

Malta has had 25,357 cases of the virus so far – smashing the 25,000 case barrier today. 21,838 of the cases have recovered, while 337 have died.
