Long and crowded queue for vaccine seen outside University of Malta

Wednesday, 10 March 2021, 16:27 Last update: about 4 years ago

A long and crowded queue waiting to get vaccinated against Covid-19 was seen at the University of Malta despite social distancing measures.

The University of Malta is one of the many vaccination hubs on the island where people can go to receive the Covid-19 vaccine when their appointment is due.

An image posted on Facebook clearly showed a large amount of crowded people not socially distanced. This led to many angered people on social media, some stating that people who had appointments at a given time went to the hub three hours before when they were asked to be there 10 minutes before.

This situation also led to anger on social media as it seemed that the majority of people who were queuing were vulnerable.

Presently the health authorities are vaccinating frontliners, vulnerable people and those who are over 60.

Malta registered a record-breaking 510 positive cases on Wednesday. The numbers are a significant increase over the previous record which stood at 362 cases found last week.
