Two men arrested after drugs found on them

Two men arrested were arrested over drugs today, the police said.

At 10.30am, the Rapid Intervention Unit was conducting inspections on a number of roads and shops in relation to Covid-19 regulations, and noted a man acting suspiciously in a public garden on Triq Patri Feliċjan Bilocca, Marsa . The man looked alarmed when the police approached him and threw a sock into a bush. The man was arrested, and the police found 13 packets of suspected cannabis in the sock, ready to be sold.

The police also searched his residence in Birzebbugia where other objects related to drug trafficking were found.

The man, who is a 27-year-old who comes from Nigeria, is being held at the Police lock-up.

In a separate case, at 2pm Police officials were on patrol in Floriana when they took note of a vehicle that was reported stolen. When approaching the driver, a 34-year-old man, he tried to escape, but was caught. The police found 13 packets of sucpected cocaine on the pan.

Investigations are ongoing.
