90 new cases of Covid-19 found in lowest daily tally since February

90 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Tuesday in what is the lowest daily tally since the beginning of February.

The last time the daily number of cases found was lower than this was on 5th February, when 57 cases were found.

Two people – a 76-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman – meanwhile passed away in the last 24 hours at Mater Dei Hospital while Covid-19 positive.

212 people have also recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases has continued to decrease to 2,479.

2,661 swab tests were carried out on Monday – a low number when compared to the 4,000 or so swab tests that were being administered daily – taking the total number of swab tests administered so far up to 789,809.

Meanwhile, the number of vaccine doses administered has surpassed the 150,000 mark, with 150,897 doses being administered up until Monday.

45,286 people have received both doses of the vaccine.

Malta has had 28,409 cases of the virus so far. 25,555 of those have recovered, while 375 have died.
