De La Salle College has announced the death of Bro. Edward Galea, who dedicated more than seven decades of his life to education, faith and service.

Born in Żabbar on August 16, 1924, Bro. Edward served the De La Salle College community as a teacher, administrator and mentor, leaving an enduring mark on generations of students, educators and families.

Throughout his long career, he taught several generations within the same families, including grandfathers, fathers and sons, becoming a familiar and respected figure within the Lasallian community.

His lifelong contribution to education was formally recognised in 2022, when he was awarded the Medal for Service to the Republic in recognition of his decades of service.

In announcing his death, De La Salle College described Bro. Edward as a person whose "quiet presence, commitment to the Lasallian mission and genuine care for others" would be remembered with great affection and gratitude.

The College said he had lived "a rich and useful life in the service of others", adding that he would continue to live in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched.

"As a College community, we give thanks for the gift of his life and for all that he shared with us," the statement said.

The College prayed that the Lord would welcome Bro. Edward into His eternal embrace and grant him "the reward of a life so generously given in service to others".

"Rest in peace, Bro. Edward," it said.

"Live Jesus in our hearts... Forever."
