102 new cases of Covid-19 as active cases continue to plummet

102 new case of Covid-19 were reported on Thursday by health authorities, as the number of active cases continued to plummet.

With 291 people declared as recovered, the number of active cases now stands at 2,086.  It has decreased by almost 1,000 cases in the space of 10 days as the restrictive measures implemented by the government start to take an effect.

One patient – a 76-year-old woman – meanwhile passed away at Mater Dei Hospital in the past 24 hours.

3,049 swab tests were carried out on Wednesday, taking the number of swab tests up to 795,647 so far.

160,260 doses of the vaccine were administered till Wednesday – an increase of 4,582 doses since the previous day.  47,081 people have now received both doses of the vaccine.

Malta has had 28,612 cases of the virus so far. 26,148 have recovered, while 378 have died.
