Lydia Abela has been appointed president of Special Olympics Malta, the organisation said.
The director of the Special Olympics Malta, Anna Calleja, said the PM’s wife will be joining the team which is “doing all it could to give every possibility to all athletes to develop their talents.”
Malta will be hosting the Special Olympics games next year.
Abela said she is honoured to take on the role, saying Special Olympics Malta will be working to invest in athletes who have the potential to make Malta proud.
