Covid-19: 93 new cases and 283 recoveries as three more patients die

93 new cases of Covid-19 were found over the past 24 hours and three patients have died, the health authorities said.

The number of active cases currently stands at 1,660 and the total number of cases so far is 28,808.

The patients who died were; a 71-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man who passed away at Mater Dei Hospital and a 77-year-old man who died at the Gozo General Hospital. The death toll now stands at 385.

There were 283 recoveries, for a total of 26,763 so far.

2,928 swab tests were performed, for a total of 800,827.

Until Friday, 171,873 doses of the vaccine had been administered, of which 50,050 were second doses.

Daily Covid figures have remained consistently low over the past week, with Health Superintendend Charmaine Gauci saying on Friday that this was a result of measures in place, not because the virus is going away. She appealed to the public to remain vigilant, particularly over the coming Easter holidays.
