A 19-year-old man was arrested by police shortly after he held up a catering establishment in Qormi.

The case took place on Tuesday in Triq San Bartolomew, the police said.

The man allegedly held up a 34-year-old shopkeeper with a knife and demanded money.

Members of the Qormi district and the Major Crimes Unit identified the suspect and arrested him a short while later at a residence in Sliema.

He is being held at the police lock-up in Floriana and will be charged before Magistrate Victor Axiak this afternoon.
