The Malta Rugby Football Union has announced that it will be competition in two Rugby 7s tournaments which will be held in May and June respectively.

The MRFU’s men’s 7s team will participate in Rugby Europe Men’s 7s Conference 2 in Piestany in Slovakia between May 29 and May 30, while their women’s 7s team will participate in the Rugby Europe Women’s 7s Conference in Belgrade in Serbia on June 4 and June 5.

On 15s rugby, the MRFU said that Rugby Europe had announced the postponement of 15s rugby on a competition basis until the end of 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the MRFU said that, with Rugby Europe’s support, they are looking into organising a one-off friendly in the fourth quarter of 2021, though this is dependent on the Covid-19 situation at the time.

The MRFU said that it is looking for corporate partners who may be interested in discussing support to make such an event happen.
