56 new cases of Covid-19 reported

56 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Monday, as the number of active cases continued to decrease – albeit not by as much as in recent days.

One more person – a 55-year-old man – passed away during the last 24 hours while positive for Covid-19.  He passed away at Mater Dei Hospital and is the 399th victim of the virus in Malta.

73 people meanwhile have recovered from the virus, meaning that there are currently 531 active cases of the virus in the country.

1,946 swab tests were carried out on Easter Sunday, taking the total number of swab tests up to 819,860 so far.

215,700 doses of the vaccine had been administered as of Sunday, with 59,032 people having received both doses of the vaccine.

Malta has had 29,279 cases of the virus so far. 28,349 of them have recovered, while 399 have died.
