Lynn Faure Chircop has stated that her withdrawal from PL candidature was due to “professional reasons”.

This was said in a Facebook post on Monday morning.

“I would like to confirm that, although the media takes sound bites and quotes for its use, I resigned on 23 March 2021. For the second time, I felt I had to withdraw my candidacy, both of which are related to professional reasons,” Faure Chircop said.

“I am a person who likes to stop and reflect when I am caught between sky and water to make decisions in the best interest of the profession I have and those I represent.”

Faure Chircop said that the decision was taken also by taking into consideration the views of her followers “because I know that the people I represent felt that it was in their best interest to continue to speak on their behalf.”

The lawyer and former Eurovision singer announced the withdrawal of her candidacy for the election on Facebook on Sunday.

"I decided to withdraw my candidature with the Labour Party. I prayed a lot and it was the right thing to do.  I do not regret having shared my social principles and intend to remain close to everyone, as I always did", she said on social media.

In a message posted an hour prior to the announcement, she wrote: "When the road you embarked on is resulting in the death of your principles, turn around and believe in yourself, even if you continue walking alone."
