Malta to help Libya procure Covid-19 vaccine, Abela says during Tripoli visit

Prime Minister Robert Abela met the Prime Minister of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, during a visit to Tripoli on Monday.

The two Prime Ministers discussed themes of common interest, including the economy, security and migration, the office of the PM said.

Abela remarked that Malta and Libya are important partners expressed satisfaction at the fact that Malta is repopening its embassy and consulate in Libya. He also said he looks forward to the resumption of direct flights between the two countries, when the situation permits.

Abela said Malta wants to help Libya return to normality and will helo it diplomatically to obtain the Covid-19 vaccine.

He said peace and prosperity in Libya are in everyone’s interest and the international community should help the country rebuild. Abela said he would convey the message of the Libyan people in European Union foras.

Abela also met with Libyan President Mohammad Younes Menfi.

He was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Evarist Bartolo, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri and Finance Minister Clyde Caruana.
