Since 2013, a total of 729 reports of theft from educational institutions, amounting to €106,376 worth of items, were reported, information tabled by Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri shows.
He was responding to a Parliamentary Question posed by PN MP Karol Aquilina.
The most reports were made at the University of Malta (144) with a further 108 reports from the university's library. MCAST followed with 87 reports.
In terms of items reportedly stolen, €26,848 worth of computer equipment was reportedly stolen from educational institutions across the Maltese islands since 2013, as well as a total of €10,268 in cash, in addition to other items.
