A 72-year-old man sustained grievous injuries after trying to stop two people from vandalizing a car in St. Julian’s.
The incident happened at around 6:45 on Sunday morning, when police were informed of an argument in Triq il-Kbira in St. Julian’s.
District police found that the 72-year-old, who lives in St. Julian’s, had tried to stop two people from damaging a Civil Protection Department car and ended up being attacked by them.
The two people escaped from the site right after.
They were however identified as an Irishman and a Spanish woman – both 23 years old – who lived in St. Julian’s.
They were apprehended by police a bit later in Triq Karmnu in St. Julian’s and are being held in the police’s lock-up in Floriana as investigations continue.
The 72-year-old man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for further care, and he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.
