A police statement requesting help to locate a wanted man was withdrawn minutes after it was issued after the man was “no longer being sought”.

The media received a statement at 12.12pm from the police communications office about a man who was wanted, with journalists referred to the police Facebook page for more details.

But, within eight minutes, a second email was sent by the police that the man was no longer being sought by the police.

The police statement did not give any more details as to why the man was wanted.
