Malta’s Eurovision hopeful Destiny has made it through to the Eurovision Grand Final after a stupendous performance in her semi-final on Tuesday night.

In a performance which BBC commentators described as one “which blew the roof off the arena”, Destiny rocked the Ahoy Centre in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

She was the last person to sing out of 16 countries represented in the first Eurovision semi-final, and bookies had her as a comfortable shoe-in to make Saturday’s Grand Final.

She did have some time to wait, being called out fifth out of the ten finalists to be announced.

The other nine countries to make it through to the Final are: Norway, Israel, Russia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Cyprus, Sweden, Belgium, and Ukraine.

The countries were announced in random order.

Another ten countries will be chosen from the second semi-final on Thursday night, and they will join hosts the Netherlands and Big 5 countries the UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, and France on Saturday.

All Maltese eyes will now turn to the final on Saturday – with hopes unusually high because of Destiny’s billing as one of the hot favourites to potentially go all the way and win the competition outright.

She would become Malta’s first ever Eurovision winner if that happens.
