A man was arrested by the police in connection with an investigation into trafficking of weapons.

The man, aged 41 of Birzebbuga, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after the police were tipped off.

Officials from the Major Crimes Unit and Rapid Intervention Unit surrounded a car and arrested the man after finding a pistol in his possession.

He is expected to be charged before Magistrate Nadine Lia today.
