The Nationalist Party is the party which has always believed in the involvement of every individual within the community, and the party which has always given local councils the power to serve you, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said during a political event in Mosta on Thursday.

Grech said that all local councils should not just be customer care offices as the Labour government would like them to be.

Speaking during the launch of the PN’s campaign for local elections, Grech said that the PN believes in policies which strengthen local councils. He listed three points which he said highlight the work of the PN in each locality, adding that each locality will have its own electoral program which will protect the interests and needs of every Maltese and Gozitan locality.

The first of these points, Grech said, is that the PN councillors will see to it that studies are carried out on the carrying capacity of their locality in order to ensure the necessary infrastructural investment for their locality for the coming years.

Continuing to the second point, he said that the PN councillors will work so that pressure is put on the government to ensure that no roads are closed without proper coordination.

For the third point, the Opposition Leader said that the PN councillors guarantee that they will do everything they can to ensure that cleanliness is upheld in their locality, especially in order to address the waste issue. He said that all the necessary measures will be taken so that waste is collected properly. The PN said that this includes making additional collections, “even though the government is trying to stop them from doing this”.

The PN Leader concluded by saying that Malta is at a delicate point, and that the PN will remain close to the people so that the country has the leadership it deserves. He added that for the upcoming elections, the PN has therefore chosen councillors who will truly work for the good of the localities.
