Haley Bugeja voted Best Young Player in Serie A

Haley Bugeja won a prestigous honour on Thursday after being voted as the Best Young Player in Italy’s top tier of women’s football.

Bugeja, who is 17 years old, had a breakthrough season at U.S. Sassuolo after signing with the club from Mgarr United over the summer.

She ended the season with 12 goals in 16 games to her name, making her Sassuolo’s top scorer and the fourth highest top scorer in the whole league.

She helped propel Sassuolo to a 3rd place finish in the 12-team league. Powerhouses AC Milan finished a point ahead of them, while Juventus won all 22 of their games to win the league for a fourth time in a row.

Bugeja was also named as one of the Top 10 global hot prospects in women’s football after her performances caught the eye across Europe.

Well-known website soccerdonna.de – an offshoot of transfermarkt.com – has said that Bugeja has been attracting interest from giant clubs like Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Olympique Lyon.
