A 16-year-old boy was grievously injured after he was hit by a car in Marsa on Saturday night, police said.

In a statement, police said that they were informed of the accident at 8:45pm at Triq Dicembru Tlettax in Marsa.

Preliminary investigations showed that a 16-year-old Syrian boy who lives in Zabbar was hit by a Mercedes Benz being driven by a 34-year-old man from Marsaxlokk.

The victim was given first aid, and taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified as being grievously injured.

Police investigations are ongoing.
