A man has pleaded not guilty to murder after he was arraigned in connection with Thursday’s fatal stabbing in Marsa.
Amo Frank Kwaku, 25, from Ghana, pleaded not guilty to murdering Isaac Kwabena Kyere, another Ghanaian national.
The victim, 23, was found in a pool of blood with three stab wounds to the chest. The case took place in Triq it-Tigrija at around 10pm.
The police said the suspect was arrested some time later at his Marsa residence. He tried to flee over the rooftops but officers managed to apprehend him.
Inspector Kurt Zahra, prosecuting, said the suspect had admitted to killing the victim when the police took his statement.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned before Magistrate Rachel Montebello on Saturday afternoon.
No request for bail was made and the accused was remanded in custody. The court also issued a freezing order on the man’s assets.
