A man was grievously injured on Sunday evening in a hold-up in Paola.

The police said the incident took place in Antoine de Paule Square at 10pm.

The victim, a foreigner aged 46 who resides in St Paul’s Bay, told police that he had been approached by an unidentified person who stole his mobile phone and fled.

The victim suffered grievous injuries and was taken to the Paola clinic for treatment.

The police did not give further details.
