TV presenter and animal rights activist Moira Delia has taken to Facebook over her frustration regarding the lack and state of garbage collection in St Julians.

In a video posted on Facebook by Delia, excessive amounts of rubbish can be seen on both sides of the pedastrian passages in a well-known street in St Julians.

Delia is heard explaining in the video that the rubbish has been left in the streets for weeks. She said that this is the 4th consecutive week that this garbage has been left in the street.

St.Julians' residents have complained and reported multiple times as other than the fact that it looks ugly, especially in such a touristic area, it also gives rise to rats, Delia said.

She remarked that "this goes to show that we are not even capable of properly managing a touristic area like this one. It is unbelievable."

In the comments section, St Julian's Mayor Albert Buttigieg noted that the garbage in the video comes from commercial entities. He explained that the St Julian's local council collects only residential garbage.

"By law, all business owners are ought to have a private collector but sadly, authorities are not enforcing the law," Buttigieg said.

He encouraged the authorities to take action as "it is not fair that the local council takes the blame when this is clearly the irresponsibility of owners and lack of enforcement from authorities."
