Thursday’s newly recorded cases saw 56 Maltese Nationals test positive for Covid-19, while more than 50% of the cases were tourists, the Health Ministry informed The Malta Independent.

Malta is continuing to see a surge in new Covid-19 cases. Most of the cases were imported, as was the case on Wednesday, where 153 of the 218 positive Covid cases reported on Wednesday are tourists.

However, new data suggests that more and more Maltese people are getting infected with Covid-19.

From Thursday’s cases, apart from the 56 Maltese nationals, 32 are foreigners residing in Malta, and 134 are tourists.

The Health Ministry also remarked that no cases mentioned were present at the Ħamrun celebrations during contact tracing.

Furthermore, as of last Wednesday, the language schools cluster was made up of 251 different cases, which means that this cluster is around 25% of the total number of active cases.
