A young British man died while swimming in a pool in St Paul’s Bay on Thursday evening, the police said.

In a statement, the police said it was informed at 7.45pm about a person who found himself in difficulty while swimming in a pool in Triq it-Trunciera.

The man, aged 27, was given first assistance by people who were on site until paramedics arrived.

The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he died some time later.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
