Covid-19: 206 new cases, most new patients under 40 years of age

Two hundred and six new Covid-19 cases were recorded on Saturday, with five patients who have recovered, health authorities said.

The sharp rise in the number of active cases continues to reach 1,642, when just two weeks ago the number was only 23.

In all, the number of Covid-19 cases in Malta is now 32,275, with 30,213 recoveries and 420 deaths.

The number of swab tests climbed to 4,373 - one of the highest ever - for a total of 1,037,870.

The health authorities gave some details regarding the 235 new cases which were recorded on Friday.

Of these, 178 were people aged between 10 and 39, with the average age being 27.

There are 17 patients in hospital, one of them in intensive care.
