The Office of the President said that Mrs Miriam Vella, the wife of the President of the Republic, was discharged from Mater Dei Hospital this afternoon after she was admitted to hospital for observation last Tuesday.

Tests showed she was suffering from pneumonia, the office said.

The President and Mrs Vella thanked the consultants, doctors and nurses as well as all the staff of Mater Dei Hospital for their dedication and support.
