Covid-19: 166 new patients take active cases to nearly 2,500

The 166 new Covid-19 patients registered today have taken the tally of active cases to nearly 2,500, health authorities said.

The total number of cases registered in malta has now climbed to 33,198, with 30,291 people who have recovered and 420 people who have died.

The nuimber of active cases is now 2,487, as 25 patients have recovered. 

Just over 4,300 swab tests were carried out on Wednesday, for a total of 1,057,596.

The health authorities said that of the 199 new cases registered on Wednesday, 149 cases were of people aged between 10 and 39 years.

The average age of the patients recorded on Wednesday was 28.

There are 17 patients in hospital, one of whom is in intensive care.
