Given the pandemic, the local village feast has become more of a fireworks tour than ever.

On the 31st weekend of the year, the locality of Hal-Lija celebrated the feast of Christ the Saviour and The Malta Independent was there to document the traditional pyrotechnic display which showered over the village of Hal-Lija.

In the run up to the feast, The Malta Independent met with the St. Michael pyrotechnic team who create a stunning display over Hal-Lija every year.

The pyro technician, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that “it is refreshing to know that certain village feast traditions are still being sought after in this day and age”.

This pyro technician has been working on fireworks since he was of legal age to get his licence and you can find out more about the pyro technician and the 2021 Lija feast in the video below.
