A 49-year-old woman was grievously injured on Wednesday after she was hit by a car in Pembroke.

The accident took place at around 6pm in Triq Burma, the police said.

The woman, who is from Pembroke, was hit by a Nissan Qashqai that was being driven by a 47-year-old man who lives in the same locality. She was given first aid on site and was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. Police investigations are ongoing.
