A six-month-old girl died after drowning in a bath in St Paul's Bay, police have confirmed in a statement.

Police said that the girl was found unconcious in a bath at a private residence, and was then rushed to hospital in critical condition where she passed away soon afterwards.

The accident took place at around 1:40pm in Triq l-Arznell in St Paul’s Bay.

Emergency doctors and members of the Malta Red Cross gave first aid.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit is leading an inquiry while police investigations continue.
