Two Covid-19 patients pass away, 49 new cases found

Two Covid-19 patients were reported as having passed away while positive for the virus on Sunday, while health authorities also reported 49 new cases.

A 69-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man were the two people who passed away while positive for Covid-19.

43 people, meanwhile, have recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases currently stands at 723.

A total of 31 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, two of whom are in ITU.

3,998 swab tests were administered on Saturday, taking the total number so far up to 1,208,855.

Up till Saturday, a total of 799,148 doses of the vaccine had been administered by health authorities. 

415,210 of those were a first dose, while 413,811 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 36,475 cases of the virus.  34,912 of those have recovered, while 444 have died.
