Three-car pile-up in Gozo leaves three in hospital

Three people were left in hospital, one of whom is seriously injured, after a three car pile-up in Gozo on Thursday morning.

Police said that the accident occurred at around 8:30am in Triq l-Imgarr in Rabat, Gozo.

Preliminary investigations on site found that three vehicles had been involved in the accident: a Leyland being driven by a 69-year-old man from Munxar, a Toyota Belta being driven by a 52-year-old man from Gharb and a Toyota Vitz being driven by a 61-year-old woman from Sannat.

An 81-year-old woman was also a passenger in the Toyota Vitz.

The driver of the Toyota Belta and the two women who were in the Toyota Vitz were taken to Gozo General Hospital by ambulance.

The man was certified as suffering from light injuries, the 61-year-old woman certified as suffering from grievous injuries, while the 81-year-old woman was certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Duty magistrate Simone Grech is leading a magisterial inquiry while police investigations continue.
