Wednesday, 29 September 2021, 12:26 Last update: about 4 years ago

A contractor named Glen Farrugia has been questioned by police over an incident where an injured migrant worker was dumped on the pavement instead of being taken to hospital for treatment.

It is understood that Farrugia, one of the directors of J&G Farrugia contractors, was taken in for questioning on Tuesday – the day of the incident.

It was on Tuesday that passers-by came across the injured worker, who police later identified as a 32-year-old man from Ghana, who said that he had been left there by his boss after he fell while work at a construction site.

The man had no work permit, which is why his boss – who had taken him into his vehicle on the premise that he would be taking him to hospital – had left him on the curb.

J&G Farrugia, established little over a year ago, are the contractors who manage the site where the worker allegedly fell two storeys, on Triq Dun Sciberras in Mellieha.

It is not clear whether Farrugia himself is alleged to have abandoned the worker on Selmun Road in Mellieha.
