An earthquake close to Malta and a bigger one in Fiji were recorded by the Seismic Monitoring and Research Group of the University of Malta.

A post on the group’s Facebook page said that a magnitude 3.8 earthquake about 130 km south of Malta was registered at 04:39 local time (blue trace).

Later, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake south of Fiji islands (red trace) was recorded on our stations at around 08:45 local time (06:45 GMT), continuing to shake the ground for more than an hour.
