The emergency phone number 112 is back to normal after a few hours of being unavailable due to technical issues, police said in a media statement on Friday afternoon.

The police had initially appealed to the public to phone on 119 in the case of an emergency until the traditional 112 number is brought back online - but an update which came through later in the day said that the usual emergency service had been fixed and was operational again.

The police also apologised for any inconvenience caused.
