16 entities express concern over cannabis reform proposal

16 social work entities have expressed their concern over the proposed cannabis reform bill, a statement by the Curia has read.

"The organisations find themselves in agreement with the positions of Caritas Malta and the OASI Foundation, that the proposal will be of more harm than good for Maltese society."

The statement read that the 16 entities, a number of which work directly with children and vulnerable youths are especially concerned about the message it will send you children about the use of cannabis. They asked politicians to really weigh the common good when contemplating the laws to move towards the liberalisation of cannabis.

The letter was signed by Caritas Djakonija Unit, Dar Merħba Bik, Dar Osanna Pia, Dar tal-Providenza, Djar tal-Knisja għall-Anzjani, Fondazzjonni Sebħ, Kummissjoni Djoċesana Djakonija, Kummissjoni Ġustizzja u Paci, Kummissjoni Migranti, Mater Dei and Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre Chaplains, Millennium Chapel, Paolo Freire Institute, Segretarjat Assistenza Soċjali Society St Vincent de Paul, St Jean Antide Foundation, Uffiċċju Ħidma Pastorali mal-Persuni Separat.
