A woman was grievously injured on Monday afternoon when she was hit by a car, the police said.

The accident happened in Sir Paul Boffa Avenua, Paola, at 2.45pm.

The woman, aged 69 of Paola, was hit by a Suzuki Swift driven by a 34-year-old man of Tarxien.

She was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.
