A group of 49 migrants landed at Ghar Lapsi, Siggiewi, at 1.30pm on Tuesday, the Police said in a statement.
Police went on site and saw a group of migrants trapped at the bottom of the cliff. Of the 49 migrants, 39 are men, four are women and six are children.
The Armed Forces of Malta launched a rescue operation to help save them from the bottom of the cliff. The AFM transferred small groups onto a small dinghy which transported them safely to a patrol boat.
The rescued migrants were then taken to Boiler Wharf and transferred to the immigration police for further investigations. One of the rescued people was a pregnant woman, who was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for observation. The rest did not need medical attention.
