The number of active Covid-19 cases continues to climb in Malta as 59 new cases were recorded while only 45 recovered.

There are now 766 active cases, while the number of victims increased to 463 after the death of a 71-year-old man.

Ten patients with Covid-19 are in hospital, with two in intensive care.

The health authorities said that 924,089 vaccination doses were administered, of which 90,524 are booster jabs.

Malta has had 38,500 cases of the virus so far, with 36,952 recoveries.
