Covid-19: Active cases surpass 1,000 as spike persists; two more deaths

The number of active Covid-19 cases has surpassed 1,000 as the spike in daily cases persists, figures released by the health authorities show.

Eighty-three new cases were recorded Thursday, while 28 patients recovered, meaning that the number of active cases is now 1,007.

Two deaths have also been reported - two men aged 63 and 76. The total number of deaths now is 466.

The last time there were more than 1,000 cases was on 7 August, with 1,058.

There are 13 patients in hospital with Covid-19, two of whom are in intensive care.

In all, there have been 38,924 cases of Covid-19, with 37,132 recoveries.

Until Wednesday, 939,732 vaccination doses were administered, of which 104,989 were booster doses.
