Workers from Malta's Disciplined Forces bought food and other necessities for several children's homes, a government statement read.

The participating entities were the Armed Forces of Malta, the Police Force, the Department of Civil Protection, the Correctional Services Agency and the LESA Agency.

After the items were collected, the workers transported the items to the children's homes

Minister for Home Affairs, National security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri, who also helped in the distribution, said: "With a little effort from many people, we wanted to make a difference in the lives of these children and those who run the homes. We are aware of how much the people who give their lives to manage these homes have on their minds, so we wanted to help alleviate some of this burden, even if for a few weeks or months".

He added that especially during this period, special attention must be given to the vulnerable.
