Puttinu Cares Founder Victor Calvagna is in hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car on Tuesday evening, the police said.

The accident took place in Triq it-Trunciera, St Paul’s Bay, at 8.30pm, next to the Aquarium.

63-year-old Calvagna, a very well-known doctor from Mosta, was hit by a Mazda Demio driven by a 31-year-old man of St Paul’s Bay.

Magistrate Marsenne Farrugia is leading an inquiry.

Puttinu Cares posted a message on Facebook, saying that the charity is shocked and saddened by the news, urging everyone to pray for his recovery. It said that Calvagna is currently in critical condition.
