1,403 new cases of Covid-19 recorded as the record is broken again, man passes away with the virus

1,403 new Covid-19 cases were reported on New Year's Eve, another daily record for the country. One person, a 62-year-old man, has also died.

The number of cases have been skyrocketing over the past few days as more and more people are contracting the virus.

Only 98 people recovered on Friday. This means that the number of active cases in the country has hit a record high of 11,441.

The number of people currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital who are Covid positive has risen to 100, eight of whom are in the ITU.

Malta has had 52,381 cases of the virus so far. 40,144 of those have recovered. 477 people have passed away with Covid since the start of the pandemic.

1,068,765 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have been administered thus far, 220,977 of which are booster shots.
